HP New Launched Victus 16 -Inch Laptop Reviews

HP launched the Victus line in mid-2021, immediately attracting the attention of gamers. So much so that the HP Victus 16-inch laptop is on our list of the best Black Friday 2021 gaming laptop deals. So, what makes it so popular? Victus gaming computers are more affordable HP devices to replace the Pavilion gaming line. Victus laptops in particular are significantly more affordable than a comparable HP Omen range. As a result, decent specifications and a reasonable price have made it attractive for beginner and casual gamers who don’t necessarily want to spend an arm and a leg on a gaming computer.

The jewel of the series is an HP Victus 16 model. We will review the advantages that it can offer in a little more detail below.

HP Vicutus 16 is available in AMD and Intel processor options

One of the aspects that distinguishes the HP Victus 16 laptop is the variety of configurations. Many gamers prefer AMD to Intel-based devices, and the AMD Ryzen 5 5600H HP Victus 16 configuration is one of the lowest on the gaming laptop market, starting.

The model also supports the recent 12th generation Intel Core i5 and Core i7 processors. The i5-12500H unit with the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 graphics card, 8 GB of RAM and a 256 GB PCIe NVMe SSD will cost users. You can configure it on 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage. The display option is also configurable at the time of purchase. Of course, the configuration based on the Core i7 will cost well.

HP Vicutus 16: Design and Display

This laptop has an elegant and sophisticated look and is available in three color choices: Mica Silver, Ceramic White and Performance Blue. Due to its minimal design, it can easily serve as a working computer. The line has a bright embossed V-logo on the top cover, has sharp-angled sides and offers many connectivity ports. This 16-inch laptop is also mobile enough for a gaming machine, weighing about 5 pounds. The keyboard is full-sized, backlit and quite comfortable, and the trackpad is also large and responsive. The only drawback that we can mention is a cumbersome central hinge cap. It feels quite loose and looks inexpensive, which puts a strain on the entire sophisticated look of the HP Victus 16 laptop.

As mentioned above, this laptop is a 16.1-inch model. All panel options are FHD, screen resolution 1920 x 1080. But users can configure their visuals in terms of the number of nits and features:

  • 144Hz 250 nits, anti-glare
  • 300 nits, anti-glare
  • 144Hz, 7ms response time, 300 nits, low blue light, anti-glare.

Overall, the display is superb. It has very narrow bezels and offers a solid 1080p gaming performance. And of course, it is insufficient compared to a gaming monitor, but most gamers find it very easy to adapt to the game on a 16-inch screen.

Autonomy

We already know that the batteries of gaming laptops have a very limited efficiency and, unfortunately, the HP Victus 16 is no exception to the rule. Of course, you can get a few hours of web browsing if you adjust the brightness of your screen. But when it comes to energy-intensive games, the battery drains after about an hour. For this reason, Victus 16 is best used as a desktop laptop. There are many gaming models that survive HP Victus, for example the Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 or an Alienware 15 R5, but these devices are also much more expensive.

Performance of the HP Victus 16

This model works as well as any high-end gaming laptop. It does pretty well when you play AAA games like Red Dead Redemption 2 or Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. It doesn’t slow down and offers solid performance in 1080p games, especially if you splurge on an RTX 3060+ setup. And for a mid-range gaming laptop, this is more than satisfactory.

The Victus 16 can also be used for other CPU-intensive tasks, such as PDF rendering, video editing in Creative Cloud and other multimedia applications.

I/O Connectivity

The HP Victus 16 laptop has two USB 3.2 Type-A ports on the right (8) and another USB-A on the left (4). The other ports that you will find are:

  • USB Type-C Port (5)
  • HDMI Output (3)
  • Ethernet Port (2)
  • Combined audio jack (6)
  • USB Flash Drive (7)
  • Direct current socket (1)

Unfortunately, the model does not have a Thunderbolt and biometrics option for Windows Hello. In fact, the model also lacks security features such as a fingerprint reader or webcam facial recognition.

In Conclusion

Overall, the HP Victus 16 is a very good gaming laptop for the price. Some features of the newer computers may be not found, but performance is important, and here the Victus 16 is 100%. Of course, we don’t expect it to maintain a good resale value over time like some more expensive models. But if you don’t sit on it for too long when upgrading, it should still generate a decent return on investment. Finally, if you have a used HP laptop for sale, we would be happy to help you with an evaluation and estimate.
